I'm Lauren and I opened mvmnt.hair in December of 2020 with the intent to create a safe, calm, supportive space to offer my clients that reflects a growing need for deeper self-care.
It is my pleasure and honor to facilitate a happy, harmonious relationship between you and your hair through individualized salon sessions.

Maybe you'd like to enjoy a rare opportunity to not talk at all. Your time in the salon is for you, and if you'd like nothing more than to space out and be with your thoughts, I am happy to accommodate. Request a silent salon experience at any time before or during your session and we'll limit our conversation to hair only.
industry experience
I'm an Austin stylist of about 8 years. I spent my early years in the industry working and learning alongside a large group of outrageously talented and passionate stylists with diverse specialties. From crisp Sassoon precision, to wildly textured fashion mullets...from a rainbow of hues to the most subtly blended sun-kissed glow, I'm grateful to have worked with a wide array of techniques and styles. I believe my diverse education slowly guided me toward the techniques that most resonate with my creative flow, and best serve the clients I tend to attract.

Over the course of my career, I've developed a certain passion for creating effortless, lived-in looks that harmonize with your hair's natural texture and satisfy a need for everyday simplicity and ease. From cut and color services to styling and product recommendations, my goal is always for your hair to feel intuitive, healthy, and easy to manage while looking its best.
I'm curious about how you experience your hair day-to-day, and enjoy finding creative solutions to those little quirks in a way that fits your lifestyle. I consider our time in the salon a collaborative process and I look forward to helping you define and achieve your hair goals.
outside of the salon
Outside of the salon, I'm mostly an introvert and enjoy various kinds of gaming. I love being cozy at home playing my Nintendo Switch or hitting up a local gaming tavern to play Magic the Gathering. I'm a bit if a tv show buff and I'm always rewatching my favorites...mostly funny stuff - Bob's Burgers, Parks and Rec, Broad City, Schitt's Creek, The Office, and Letterkenny are some of my all-stars. Silly cartoons like Adventure Time are an easy sell for me, and I love anything that has to do with the wonderful art of drag.
I live with the very best sister I could have ever dreamed up, along with our 3 cats who generously let us share their space with them. I'm super low maintenance with my personal beauty routine and I'm usually sporting a messy bun at the salon out of sheer functionality. In all things related to personal style and aesthetic, comfort, ease, and quality take a priority role. I'm a big fan of finding that sweet spot between looking casually high-end and feeling completely comfortable with minimal effort.
